Aftercare Advice Every Fitter Should Be Able to Give

What clients should hear before they leave

Good aftercare keeps extensions looking good for longer, and it protects the client’s own hair. A fitter should be ready to explain the following in plain words.

Brushing

Brush gently from the ends upwards with a soft brush made for extensions, and hold the hair near the roots so the join does not pull.

Washing

Use gentle products, keep conditioner away from the joins unless the fitter says otherwise, and dry the roots properly.

Sleeping

Loose plaits or a loose tie stop the hair tangling overnight.

Heat and chemicals

Ask your fitter before using hot tools, colour or treatments, because the answer depends on the method and the type of hair.

Put it in writing

Give clients a written sheet they can take home. If you are comparing Manchester dates, ask whether the course teaches how to explain aftercare.

Ask about dates

Message the provider to ask which Manchester date has a place, what is in the kit and how to get there.
